Regular Season Wrap Up

2016-01-12

The Wild are ready for the Playoffs!

The Petrie’s Wild have had quite the season.  From last place in the league they pulled themselves up, which seems to be how this team operates. The Wild start off slow, building momentum to overcome against the odds. The players have worked hard this season, shown raw talent and potential, and held a “we can come back from this” attitude. There have been some marvelous shots, some “Wild” shots, and heart-stopping moments of excitement for those of us in the stands. The games have never been dull.

The players seem to agree that overall the Wild have had a good run so far. Jacob quite enjoyed the regular season, saying overall he feels it was “pretty good”.  Erin and Lucas agree.  Anders summed it up:  “We usually always came back.”  Summer feels the whole team is “really improving” just in time for play-offs.

As for what they have taken away personally from the season, for each player it’s a little different.  Jacob had scored 6 goals when I spoke to him, and assisted in 4 more.  Erin feels her stick handling is far better than at the beginning of the season, as does Anders: “Yeah, its way better.”

As far as the play-offs go, hopes are high. Dane is a first line, first time hockey player.  He is not happy the regular season is ending.  In fact, he feels “bad.  I want to play more hockey.  But I hope we get a trophy!”  Anders agrees, and is hoping for a trophy as well.  Jacob would be happy if the team makes it into the semi-finals.  He is making it his personal mission to score 6 more goals to help Wild get there.  Lucas has taken a broader vision:  to simply score as many goals as he possibly can.

If any team can defy the odds and climb to the top through hard work, this team can. Go Wild!
